Tips
Not only do we offer great products, but the staff here at ‘Take The Plunge offers you many tips on how to take care and maintain the products you buy. Here are some tips that will ensure that the products that you buy will last and look fantastic!
Polyester vs Spandex
Polyester is a lot more resistant to chlorine than a Spandex or Lycra combination. Therefore it is recommended to use polyester for your everyday training in the pool. Save your Spandex/Lycra for those important race meets. This will ensure best value and considerable savings as you will not be wearing out those Spandex suits and having to replace them every few months.

Swim Suit Care
Proper care for swimwear is very important. Swimwear should always be washed separately by hand using a proper swimsuit cleaner, especially if you are using your suit in chlorine or salt water. Once you have cleaned your suit this way you should hang it to dry away from direct sunlight. At Take The Plunge we do offer the proper swimsuit cleaner for sale. When used regularly this product will help make your suit last longer.
Goggle Fit
Goggles should fit properly to avoid problems with leaking and fogging up. At Take The Plunge we take the time to fit you for the goggle that suits you the best.
Goggles Fogging Up
There are a couple of reasons for goggles fogging up. Either the goggle is not the right fit for you or the gaskets are worn and you need to replace the goggles.
Anti-fog Drops
If your goggle is fitting you properly and the gaskets are not worn out you could try anti-fog drops. It really does work!
Choosing Right Swimsuit Style
Every body type requires a different style of swimsuit; try a variety of styles and sizes. Different brands will have different sizing and fit. The more selection you try the more likely you will find something that works for you. Remember, what you like on the rack you may not like on and sometimes things that don’t really appeal to you on the hangar will look much better on.
Accessorize
When buying swimwear try a sarong or cover-up to get the full affect of how the outfit will look. Sun hats can also make a statement and draw attention away from areas you don’t want to emphasize.
Wetsuit Care
To get the longest life out of your wetsuit, regular shampooing is recommended. At Take The Plunge we carry a wetsuit shampoo that is distributed by a wetsuit company we deal with. It is quite easy to use and will give longevity to your wetsuit.
When storing or transporting your wetsuit turn it inside out, this will protect the outside surface of your suit when it’s not on your body.
